Chelsea Handler only has A-list friends because theyre terrified of her

Last week, I was very disappointed to hear that Chelsea Handler had gotten Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron into her gnarled clutches. Apparently, Chelsea and her BFF Jennifer Aniston (and Aniston’s boyfriend Justin Theroux) were all hanging out together (re: getting bombed), and Charlize happened by, and Chelsea made a new friend. So Charlize of course got an invitation to Chelsea’s Super Bowl party, and Charlize made sure to bring lots of booze. Now Us Weekly has a little addendum to that story – apparently, A-list women are only cozying up to Chelsea because they’re afraid of her?

“She’s the queen bee right now,” an insider says of the acerbic Chelsea Lately host who in the last few years has befriended Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon.

“These A-list women are terrified of her and kiss her ass because they want to stay on her good side.” The insider adds that the E! personality recently “targeted” Charlize Theron to be in the group – and then she attended Handler’s Super Bowl party. Says the source, “They’ve become very close.”

Part of me believes this just because so many of these Hollywood ladies are so thin-skinned and they‘ll do anything to avoid being criticized, even if it‘s fake-laughing at Chelsea‘s asinine “jokes”. Another part of me doesn’t believe it because… well, what does Charlize Theron have to prove? If Chelsea wants to make an enemy out of Charlize Theron, who the f–k is Chelsea Handler again? I think it’s hidden option C: these A-listers are hanging out with Chelsea because she’s fashioning herself to be a “professional friend” to the stars – like she’s a really busted, trashy, drugged-up, drunker version of Truman Capote, I guess. I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again – Chelsea is going to crash and burn at some point. It will be a DUI (that hurts somebody) or a drug arrest or maybe she’ll just talk smack about the wrong person, but it will happen. And will all of these celebrities still be “friends” with her?
